contact with children
If you are considering separating, or indeed have separated, from your partner it is important that you seek advice from BTMK Family in relation to issues concerning the upbringing of your child, most importantly, the issue of how much contact a non-resident parent should have.
Contact issues can become complex in some circumstances. BTMK Family have experience of conducting cases where contact is being denied by one parent and can fully advise on these issues whether you are the parent preventing or seeking contact.
It is appropriate for us to promote a conciliatory attitude between parents so that their relationship can be maintained on a civil basis for the benefit of their child. We will try to negotiate an agreed outcome but in the event that this is not possible we are able to fully advise on the merits of an application being made to the court.
We will always consider with you whether it is appropriate for us to refer you to an outside agency to act as mediators in an attempt at settlement.
In some circumstances other family members will wish to seek contact with a child, where such contact is being withheld. BTMK Family has extensive experience of advising all members of a family about the issue of contact.
Where it is necessary to issue court proceedings concerning a child we confirm that our offices in Southend and Chelmsford are located sufficiently close to the Family Proceedings Court and the County Court in each town to make representation of you on an emergency basis extremely efficient.
