care proceedings
Where the local authority’s social services department are involved with your family due to allegations of neglect or abuse of children it is important that you speak to one of our dedicated team who deal solely with child protection issues.
Where the local authority have asked you to attend a Child Protection Conference we will happily attend that meeting with you to ensure that your legal rights are adhered to by social services department.
At all times we will encourage you to work with the local authority in order to try to sort out matters concerning your child.
In some circumstances the local authority will issue court proceedings for a Care Order to allow them to remove your child from your care. If you are notified by the Local Authority that they are making such an application you should telephone us immediately. If the child in question is your natural child we will be able to provide you with public funding (legal aid) straight away and will arrange representation of you at any court hearing. We will assist you in resisting the Local Authority in trying to remove your child from your care.
If you have any further enquiries please call 01702 339222 or email family@btmk.co.uk. Alternatively, please feel free to telephone Yvonne Hume on 01702 238561.
