Contracts of Employment

A contract of employment may be either written or verbal or a combination of the two.

Although the law does not require you to provide employees with a written employment contract, you must provide a written statement of particulars within two months of employment beginning.

The statement of particulars must cover certain terms of the contract. However, normally you will usually choose to use more detailed contracts to set out your relationship with employees.

We can assist in drafting employment contracts and tailor these to individual requirements, to cover issues such as confidentiality, restrictive covenants and intellectual property rights.

We can also review existing contracts and provide advice when you wish to amend employees’ contractual terms, as such changes cannot generally be made without the employees’ consent.
