Responding to a claim

The respondent must submit a response form admitting or denying the claim within 28 days of receiving the claim form. The tribunal will normally specify the date by which the form must be returned to avoid confusion.

If the respondent will have difficulty in responding within 28 days, they must apply for an extension to the time limit for filing the response form to the tribunal. Failing to submit a response form in time, and without an agreed extension, could lead to the tribunal preventing the respondent from taking any further part in the proceedings.

The tribunal will send the response form received from the respondent to the claimant for their information.
