The final hearing

If the claim cannot be settled at an earlier stage, the claimant, the respondent and their respective witnesses must attend the tribunal to give evidence at a final hearing.

The case will be heard at the tribunal office where the claim was issued either by a chairperson sitting alone or with the assistance of two lay members.

At the conclusion of the evidence, the tribunal may deliver judgment or may reserve judgment, to consider matters in greater detail before making a decision. In this case, the judgment will be given in writing and sent to the parties.

If the claimant is successful, the tribunal will either deal with remedy and compensation at the final hearing or it may list the case for a remedy hearing at a later date.
