
Notice of termination
You are legally obliged to give your employers notice when you decide to leave your job.
If you have a written contract of employment, this will set out the notice period required. If you have agreed terms orally with your employer, you will need to give the notice that you agreed.
If you have no agreed terms, you must give your employer the statutory minimum notice of one week. If you resign without giving the required notice, you will not be entitled to payment for the period you should have worked.
